Can a smart monitor prevent SIDS?

At what age can I stop using a baby monitor?

There is no medical guideline that says you must stop at a specific age. From a safety standpoint, the case for vital-signs monitoring weakens dramatically after six months, since SIDS risk is heavily concentrated in the first four to six months and falls sharply after that. Most families find the video monitor useful through toddlerhood; many drop the wearable by the time the baby is six to twelve months old. Do white noise machines harm baby hearing?

At safe volumes, no. Keep the decibel level at or below 50 dB at the baby’s ear (the volume of a quiet conversation or a soft shower).
