- Add detergent according to the package directions. Use the MINIMUM recommended amount — more detergent does not mean cleaner clothes and increases residue. For HE washers, use HE detergent.
- Select the wash cycle — normal or heavy-duty for heavily soiled items (diapers, spit-up clothes); gentle or delicate for everyday clothing.
- Select an EXTRA RINSE cycle. Most modern washers have an “extra rinse” or “second rinse” option. Select it. If your washer does not have this option, run a second rinse cycle manually after the first wash cycle completes.
